Question

Does the HiveMQ Enterprise Security Extension support authentication and authorization with SAML?

Answer

No.

What is SAML?

SAML stands for Security Assertion Markup Language, which is an XML-based protocol used for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties, especially between an identity provider (IdP) and a service provider (SP).

SAML allows a user to log in to one application and then be authenticated to access another application without needing to re-enter their login credentials. This is achieved through a process of exchanging SAML assertions between the IdP and SP.

SAML is widely used in single sign-on (SSO) systems, where a user can log in once and access multiple applications without having to enter their credentials again. It is also used for other purposes, such as authorizing access to web services or exchanging attribute information between parties.

SAML has been adopted as a standard by several organizations, including the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
